With the increase in temperatures in the Spanish Levante region, the new 2022 summer season begins.
As with the winter campaign, the development of a market that has generally lowered its production forecasts with respect to previous campaigns is awaited with great uncertainty. At Sacoje we already have all our plantations ready to start a progressive harvest that will allow us to supply our clients during all the months of the season.
The weather in May mainly affected the watermelon campaign, especially in the area closest to Almeria due to the haze and the abundant rainfall. This led to a slight increase in ripening times and a generalised decrease in supply.
One of our main watermelon and melon plantations is located in the area of Lorca, Murcia. Amongst the varieties marketed, this year we are once again investing in planting limelon, watermelon and cantaloupe amongst others.
